Before founding Crescent Mortgages, Kye spent a decade in various roles within the mortgage industry, building on his talents with numbers and problem solving.
Motivated by a desire to make the purchase and remortgage process as easy as possible for his clients – Kye combined his skills with Daniel and together established Crescent Mortgages.
“We’re keen, particularly on our very first call with first-time buyers, to spend as long as they need. If they need an hour, they’ll have an hour – because we know that first call, if done well, is a client for potentially 40 years,” says Kye.
“Our approach is to just be friendly. If a client spoke to someone else, and said ‘I want to buy my first house’, they can spend a while talking to them, yet it still feels quite formal, quite structured.
“Whereas with our conversations, we’re quite happy to just let it flow. We still cover all the same questions, just in a way that makes someone feel comfortable.”
Kye has seen the industry change a lot in his time helping people buy property, and relishes the role brokers now provide.
“When I started in 2011 a much bigger share of the mortgage market was done directly with lenders. Now the majority is done through brokers – lenders don’t want the risk, we take it.”
Outside of work, Kye enjoys spending time with his wife, Anna, and children, Penny & Clark, taking advantage of life’s simple pleasures.
